Nice product when fitted - fair amount of work to fit - spindles are very close to flap which makes for tricky fitting; large, heavy product, which I knew.

I should have taken note of Scott's review. The letter plate received is smooth and shiny and not as 'rustic' as I hoped. The flap had a lot of sideways movement which had to be restricted by the fitter with the use of additional washers. Had this not been done, when opened, by sliding sideways it would have hit the sides of the aperture. It is very heavy and would have cost too much to return it.

Whilst this does appear to be a top-quality product, I am slightly disappointed with its actual look, compared to the photo above. The photo shows (to my eye) a letter plate with a very pitted, matt finish - looking very hand-made, which I found very attractive. The letter plate which arrived has quite a shiny finish, with a far less pitted appearance than the photo (at first glance it looks virtually smooth, with the uneven finish only evident on closer inspection). The extra-wide aperture is great though. And I'm sure it will last a lifetime.

Letter plate is full of character and actually looks traditional unlike some of the other brands on the market. Goes with my oak door perfectly and I haven't received a letter that wont fit through it as yet. Would recommend to anyone.
