Our front door takes a battering from the weather. It has an existing ancient iron latch and we wanted a door knocker that would be in keeping. Although the beeswax finish ring looked very good we didn't want it to go rusty so we chose the one with a protective paint finish. It's not an antique but it's well made, good and solid, a lot better than a cheap cast alternative - and it makes our old front door look good.
