What hardware do I need for my sash windows?

Within your window frame, you'll need sash pulleys and a nylon sash cord which helps slide one window over the other when opening.

You'll need to fit each sash panel with sash lifts, eye lifts, or pull handles. All of these are used as handles to open/close the sashes, but vary in their shape and appearance. Typically, two handles are fitted to the upper and lower sash panel frames.

You'll also need one or two sash fasteners, which are fitted on the frame between the two sash windows and used to lock/unlock them in place.

Sash stops can also be fitted to the windows to restrict how far the windows can open. If you choose to fit sash stops, you can still choose to fully open your window by pushing the sash stops back in.

Can I restrict the opening of my sash windows to make them safer?

Absolutely! By fitting a pair of sash stops, you can prevent the window opening beyond a certain point. This point depends on the height at which you want the windows to stop. Sash stops are a great way to protect children and pets.

Once your sash stops are fitted, you will still be able to open the window fully by simultaneously pushing both sash stops in and opening the window over them but because this is a fiddly procedure, it prevents young children from operating them.

Can I lock my sash windows?

Of course! All of our sash fasteners have a small hole which is accepting of a grub screw. The grub screw can be used to permanently lock the fastener in position, thereby preventing movement of the sash panels, until the user decides to unlock them.
